St. Patrick’s Day Parades in Roscommon 

Monday 17th March

Towns and villages across Roscommon will be awash in green this St. Patrick’s Day.

A variety of parades and family-friendly events are set to take place throughout the county, offering something for everyone to enjoy.

Here’s a look at some of the exciting celebrations happening across Roscommon this St. Patrick’s Day:


Ballinasloe Parade @ 2:00PM

There will be prizes in cultural, education, voluntary, sporting and commercial categories, plus a special cash prize for best entertaining novelty entry.


Ballaghaderreen Parade @ 2:30PM

This year’s theme is ‘Going Green in Ballaghaderreen’ and there will be prizes for the best floats. A Sensory Awareness Silent Section will be in place for this year’s parade from Creaton’s Bar to the Garda Station.


Ballintubber Parade @ 3:00PM

Ballintubber will welcome special guests Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and many more Disney characters.

There will also be family fun with food stalls, carnival games, face painting, entertainment by Bozo the Clown and prizes for the best floats. There are cash prizes up for grabs along with trophies, medals and the overall winner receives the Jacinta O’Tooles memorial cup.


Cloonfad Parade @ 3:00PM

There will be prizes for the best floats and the parade can be live streamed on Facebook at the below link.

Boyle Parade @ 3:30PM

The parade will start at Apple Green and finish on the Crescent.

There will be a DJ playing before and after the parade. Music will commence at the rear of An Rioga (Former Royal Hotel) before the parade with face painting taking place there too.

After the parade Music Generation will run a concert at St Joseph’s Hall where they’ll have a number of different bands and groups playing a variety of Music from Rock to Traditional Irish Music.


Elphin Parade @ 5:00PM

This year’s theme is cultural inclusion and there will be prices for the best float, best dressed dog, best decorated tractor and best dressed window in the town. There will also be face painting from 4pm to 6pm.
