National Play Day

Venue: Lough Key Forest & Activity Park
Date & Time: Sunday, 6th July 2025, 1-4pm

National Play Day is a free family event hosted by Roscommon County Council

This year’s theme, “The Power of Play,” celebrates how play supports children’s physical, emotional, and social development. Enjoy circus acts, face painting, sports, story time, a puppet show, and more!

Children must be supervised. Photographers will be present—please let staff know if you prefer not to be included.

Boyle Arts Festival

Venue: Boyle, Co. Roscommon
Dates: July 17th – 26th

Boyle Arts Festival returns this July with an exciting lineup of music, comedy, and cultural events. Headliners include The Fureys, performing one of their final shows before retiring; The Irish Tenors, celebrating 25 years of Celtic music; and Bad Manners, bringing their high-energy ska hits to close the festival.

Other highlights include the powerful Seeger Sessions Revival, comedian Jarlath Regan with his hit show In Bits, Karma Police with a tribute to Radiohead, and Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, delivering an evening of traditional Irish music with top musicians.

Plus, enjoy free events, creative workshops, kids’ activities, and literary readings throughout the festival.

O’Carolan Harp Festival & Summer School

Venue: Keadue, Co. Roscommon
Date: July 28th – August 4th

O’Carolan Harp Festival & Summer School returns to Keadue this August Bank Holiday, celebrating the life and music of legendary Irish composer Turlough O’Carolan.

The Summer School runs from July 28th to August 1st, offering workshops and masterclasses for harpers and musicians of all levels. The festival itself runs from August 1st to 4th, featuring concerts, harp recitals, céilithe, and the long-standing Harp Competition—a unique celebration of Irish musical heritage in the heart of Roscommon.
