Plan your visit in the Strokestown Area

The broad avenue in Strokestown, which leads directly to the gates of Strokestown House, was at one time the widest main street in Europe, and is still today the second widest in Ireland.

Strokestown House offers a fascinating journey through Irish history with the National Famine Museum, located in the stable yards, providing a sharp contrast to the house and gardens.

There are many excellent fishing lakes surrounding the town, with local guides available. The easy/moderate Sliabh Bawn trail has breathtaking mountain walks and cycling trails.
